David E. Hudson practices in the area of general civil litigation with an emphasis on media law, construction law and business and commercial disputes.

Mr. Hudson has been a trial lawyer since 1974 and has represented clients at the trial court level in Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, and New York, and has argued numerous appeals in the appellate courts of Georgia, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and one case in 1998 before the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Hudson's trial advocacy was recognized in his induction as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1992. From 1992 through 1994, he served as Chair of the Civil Justice Reform Committee for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. In 1994, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of Georgia as a member of the Georgia Board of Bar Examiners and served in that capacity through 1998, in which year he was Chair of the Board. He currently is a member and Chairman Emeritus of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.

Mr. Hudson earned his AB degree, summa cum laude, from Mercer University in 1968, and his JD degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1971. He then served from 1971 to 1972 as a law clerk to the Honorable Griffin B. Bell, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Prior to entering private practice, he was for two years a Captain in the United States Army and Senior Instructor, Law Department, United States Military Police School at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

Mr. Hudson is currently in his 25th year as a Trustee of Mercer University and is Chairman of its Executive Committee. He is a current or a former board member of Leadership Georgia, Richard B. Russell Foundation, Morris Museum of Art, East Georgia Easter Seals, Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia-Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Walter F. George Foundation and the Georgia First Amendment Foundation.

He and his wife, Janet, are parents of two sons in college.
