James
V. Painter practices in the area
of general civil litigation, with an emphasis on medical malpractice
defense. His practice also includes comprehensive general insurance
defense, including suits involving allegations of premises liability,
product liability, employment discrimination, defamation, breach of
contract, worker’s compensation, and automobile and trucking
liability. He is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and South Carolina, and has represented hospitals, physicians,
nursing homes and other health care providers throughout both
states. He has also presented Continuing Medical Education (CME) to Georgia and South Carolina physicians.
Mr. Painter has tried
civil actions in both Georgia and South Carolina. He is admitted to practice
before the trial and appellate courts in both states,
as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of
Georgia and the United States District Court for South Carolina.
In 2006, Mr. Painter
was recognized as a “Rising Star” Super Lawyer by Georgia Super
Lawyers magazine, a
distinction that recognizes the top 2.5 percent of Georgia lawyers under the age of 40 or in practice
for 10 years or less.
Mr. Painter earned a
Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1991 from the State
University of New York at Buffalo, with concentrations in accounting and
finance. He received his juris doctorate in 1994 from the University of Georgia School of Law. Mr. Painter is a member of the
Georgia and Augusta Bar Associations and the Georgia Defense Lawyers
Association.
