N. Shannon Gentry Lanier practices in the area of general civil litigation with an emphasis on media law, tort defense and commercial litigation.

Ms. Lanier has served as lead counsel in a wide variety of cases including disputes involving: media access to courts, reporters' privilege issues, business disputes, premises liability, personal injury and general tort disputes. She also has a broad range of appellate experience, having served as lead counsel in appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Appellate Division of the Georgia State Board of Workers Compensation.

Ms. Lanier was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1992.  She is a member of the bar of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court and the Superior Courts of the State of Georgia.

In addition, she is member of the State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association, the Augusta Bar Association (Secretary, 1995-1996), the Young Lawyers Club of Augusta (President, 1999), the Defense Research Institute and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association.  Ms. Lanier served on the State Bar of Georgia Committee on Professionalism (group leader, University of Georgia program) in 1994.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Lanier served as the law clerk to the Superior Court Judges of the Augusta Judicial Circuit.  She earned an A.B.J. degree from the University of Georgia in 1989 and a J.D. degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1992.

Ms. Lanier currently serves on the Board of Directors of Girls Incorporated and is an active member of the Junior League of Augusta.
