Timothy E. (“Tim”) Moses assists clients in creating, commercializing and
enforcing intellectual property
rights, and counseling in trademark, copyright, technology and internet
law matters. Mr. Moses also
handles general corporate matters
including employment matters
and startups. Mr. Moses routinely handles software licensing matters
world-wide, internet business ventures and has repeatedly and
successfully prosecuted and defended Domain Name disputes nationally and
internationally, before the World Intellectual
Property Organization in Geneva, Switzerland and the National Arbitration Forum.
Mr. Moses is licensed to
practice in both Georgia and South Carolina and is a member of
the State Bars of Georgia and South Carolina, the American Bar
Association, the Augusta Bar Association and the Young Lawyers' Club of
Augusta. Mr. Moses served as a Planning Board Member of the Intellectual
Property and Computer Law Committee of the Young Lawyers Division of the
American Bar Association, and is a former Member of the Technology
Committee of the South Carolina Bar Association. He is also an At-Large
member of ICANN, the International
Committee for Assigned Names and Numbers which sets policy world-wide
for Internet domain names. In 1999, he obtained the non-legal, national
employment-related certification as a Professional in Human Resources by The Human Resource Certification Institute.
He is admitted to practice
before the United States Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of
Appeals, as well as the Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals. Mr.
Moses is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts and Courts
of Appeal of both Georgia and South Carolina, as well as all trial courts
in Georgia and South Carolina. Additionally, Mr. Moses has been
recognized to practice before the United States Trademark Office.
Mr. Moses graduated in 1986
from the UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY,
and served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserves until 1994, achieving
the rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4) and earning decorations such as
the Navy
Achievement Medal. Mr. Moses earned his Juris Doctor in
1994 from the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH
CAROLINA School of Law in Columbia, South Carolina, where he was
inducted into the Order of the Wig and Robe for academic
excellence. Mr. Moses was also an Articles Editor and Member of the
Student Editorial Board of the American Bar Association's Real Property, Probate and Trust
Journal, and Vice-Magister of the Calhoun Inn Chapter of
the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.
Active in community
affairs, Mr. Moses currently serves on the Augusta-Richmond
County Board of Elections, and is a past Vice-Chair. He is also
currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Leadership Georgia,
and is the immediate-past President. As an active member of the
Augusta Kiwanis Club, Mr. Moses is a Past President, has served as the
Chairman of the Membership Committee and as a Board Member. Mr.
Moses is a 2001 recipient of a George F. Hixson Fellowship Award from Kiwanis International.
Mr. Moses is also a
graduate of Leadership
Georgia (1999), a past Program Chair in 2003 and a past
Trustee. He is also a graduate of Leadership Augusta (1999), and is a former Chairman of the
Adult Class Committee, as well as a former member of the Board of
Directors. In the past, Mr. Moses has served as the Chairman
of the Greater Augusta Employer
Committee, the Legislative Chair and an Executive Board Member of S.H.R.M. Augusta, a Trustee of
the Augusta Museum of History,
a Trustee of Historic Augusta
and a Trustee (and past Treasurer) of the Augusta Ballet Company,
Mr. Moses has also served as a former director of the New Hope Community
Center, and as a former member of the Augusta Mayor's Brownfields
Commission.
Mr. Moses is married to
the former Mary Battey of Augusta, and together they have three children,
Matt, Mollie and Drew. When he is
not on the sports fields watching his sons compete, he enjoys watching
his daughter perform on stage.
