Tara Rice Simkins is an Augusta native who, after practicing law in Atlanta for six (6) years, decided to return to Augusta with her husband. Mrs. Simkins practices Corporate law and focuses primarily on asset and stock purchases.
Mrs. Simkins was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1992. She is a member of the bar of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Superior Courts of the State of Georgia. Mrs. Simkins served as a Barrister with the Lumpkin Inn of Court (1997-1999). She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association and the Augusta Bar Association.
Mrs. Simkins is involved in the community, serving on the Board of Trustees for Historic Augusta (2000-2003) and the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Augusta (2000-2001). Mrs. Simkins and her husband are also involved in Leadership Georgia (Class of 2001-2002), the Morris Museum of Art Young at Art, the Augusta Ballet, the Augusta Canal Authority, the Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy, and the Gertrude Herbert Museum of Art.
Mrs. Simkins graduated from Wake Forest University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English Literature and minoring in Dance. In 1992, Mrs. Simkins graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law where she was a Member of The Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law.
Mrs. Simkins has been married to Turner Simkins, a real estate developer since 1993. They have two sons, Nathaniel Turner Simkins, Jr., and Patrick Brennan Simkins. Mrs. Simkins and her family are members of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
